Friday 15th & Saturday 16th May 2015
7 – 11pm FREE ENTRY
Oh my ears and whiskers, how late it’s getting! The North East’s late night culture crawl The Late Shows returns on 15th and 16th May 2015. Cultural venues across Newcastle and Gateshead will open their doors late into the evening, offering a range of free events, exhibitions and performances.
The warm-up event for The Late Shows takes place on Friday 15 May with a special programme of events exclusively in the Ouseburn Valley from 7pm to 11pm. Mushroom Works and another Ouseburn favourite, Seven Stories are coming together to transform our building into scenes from Alice in Wonderland.
As we're both celebrating our 10th birthdays this year we thought it would be a great idea to take you on a journey down the rabbit’s hole with Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ as it celebrates its 150th anniversary this year.
We'll be creating a world filled with characters from this famous children’s story where you’ll be able to have tea with the Mad Hatter or try to keep your head with the Queen of Hearts or create a winning smile just like the Cheshire cat’s.
The madcap artists and designers will be around for you to meet and discover what they get up to. There’ll be lots of different work to buy or commission from affordable gifts to beautifully handcrafted pieces of furniture.
If that’s wasn't enough, we've also got beer on tap by Mordue Brewery and Alice-themed cupcakes to nibble on by local bakery, Olivia Rose Bakery. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for ways to enter our free prize draw with the chance of winning a ‘teatastic’ Rington’s hamper worth £50!!.
Presented as part of The Late Shows 2015.
