Make It in the Ouseburn

Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th September

FREE ENTRY

This September see's the 20th anniversary of Heritage Open Days and to celebrate we’ll be opening the doors and taking visitors on a 200 year journey of our building. As we're stuffed to the rafters with creativity, we’ll be running a selection of heritage skills workshops for people to pre-book onto. Choose from one or more with silver clay jewellery, stone carving, tool sharpening, crochet, mug and teapot making and wood carving all on offer.

There’ll be plenty to see and do over the whole weekend with an exhibition of tenant's work, heritage skills workshops, demonstrations, a talk and tour and an opportunity to meet and buy or commission work direct from the artists and designers. Once you’re here, grab a bite to eat and a drink from the region’s best food and drinks producers.

Please pre-book onto heritage skills workshops as places are limited. The talk and tour (12 - 1pm) is limited to a max of 25 people.

Go to www.mushroomworks.com/whatson to pre-book onto any of the heritage skills workshops.

Down at the Bottom of the Garden...

Friday 16th & Saturday 17th May 2014
7 – 11pm
FREE ENTRY

Strange things are happening in the building as the invisible boundary between our world and that of the fairies magically collide. Their powerful influence will be felt over the two nights at our Late Shows event this month, so be on your guard!

These mythical super natural beings will be helping us celebrate the 420th anniversary of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. Our merry band of seductive fairies will be trying to trap any unsuspecting visitors into their woodland realm. There'll be other temptations on offer with Tipsy Pud bringing their old style bar with a selection of alcoholic puddings and Olivia Rose Bakery creating a mountain of delicious fairy cakes.

Fairies love creativity and so do we, so we've Titania's Tree where you can write and pin your own Fibonacci sonnet or decorate your own fairy-themed Raku with Muddy Fingers Pottery

You can also transform yourself into a fairy character in our fairy photo booth and share the experience with your friends on social media. We'll choose our favourite photo each night and will give away a personalised fairy block for you to keep. For a chance to win, come along and share your image on Instagram or Twitter using #fairyselfie or #thelateshows.

As ever, all of the studios will be open so take the opportunity to meet all of the artists and designers, buy or commission work from them direct and find out about their magical hidden world.

Spring Salon

Mushroom Works' Spring Salon on Sunday 23rd March will be showcasing the very best on offer in art and design. Some on the region's most exciting artists and designers are busy putting the finishing touches to new work and will be on hand to talk to you about their newest creations.

The Spring Salon is a one-day open studios event with our Ouseburn Open Studios partners, The Biscuit Factory, The Toffee Factory, Northern Print and 36 Lime Street.  There'll be lots to see, buy and do at each of these studio venues just in the run up to Mother's Day.

All of the artists and designers are looking forward to meeting you and giving a personal insight into their creative world. There'll be unique affordable work to buy from paintings, jewellery, furniture, pottery, drawings and illustrations, as well as lots of small products for the home such as this gorgeous lamp by James Design.

If you're feeling in a creative mood, we'll be giving away 200 'grow bags' packed full with ingredients that you can use to create a bird, animal, insect, flower or shrub and help our Spring garden grow. Our friends at Ouseburn Farm are bringing some 'live' cute and cuddly animals down to spend the day with us.

Marv and Diane from Muddy Fingers Pottery will be firing up the raku ovens in the yard for you to come and decorate a tile or pot with your own colourful designs. Create a unique gift for your mum, handmade by you. Get here early though as the last firing is at 2:30pm.

All we need is blue skies and you.....
